The founding members first met in 2007 on a creative writing course, starting the group in 2009. The Inklings are a friendly writers' group who welcome new writers.

They are open to all writing, poetry, short stories, etc.

It aims to promote, maintain, improve and advance education by the encouragement of the literary arts and creative writing in all its forms.
