There are eight essay titles, mainly around the theme of philosophy of religion. Entrants for the Edward Craig Philosophy Prize must be Year 13 (Upper Sixth) or lower, of their school or college.Details of this year's prize have not yet been released.For Oxbridge applicants, a few competitions is essential.
You could boost your university philosophy application by receiving a commendation from, or even winning, one of the various philosophy essay prizes that are available for pre-university students to enter.
If the university you're applying to requires a sample of writing, as some Cambridge colleges do for example, then your prize entry could also supplement your university application.
If you know of other prizes, not listed here, then by all means let me know, and I'll add them to the page. The titles for 2013 are: Essays will be accepted from any student at a UK school or college studying for AS or A2 levels or qualifications at the same level (eg intermediate 1, intermediate 2, higher, advanced higher etc) who is 19 or under on 1st April 2013.
The competition is open to all those studying for any AS or A2-level examinations (or equivalent) in 2013. Essays must be no more than 1,500 words; and the deadline is April 1st.
In 2011 the limit was 1,000 words; there were various titles to choose from; and the deadline was September 1st, which was in time for UCAS application personal statements.

Prizes and certificates will be awarded at Fitzwilliam College during the University Open Days in July 2015.
